Personally, this is a very tough issue for me. I don't feel we as Catholics are responsible for this and don't want to pay a dime to victims. Although I feel sorry for the victims, they should have come forward sooner because doing so may have stopped this a long time ago. They didn't because they wanted the money and signed agreements to be quiet. I know there is more to it and I in NO WAY condone what happened and squarely blame Church leadership (or apparently, lack there of). The others (SNAP) just joined in when the lawyers jumped all over it and the payments are outrageous. But, the Church leadership really screwed this up. They should have defrocked these people and turned them in right away. We all learned lessons way too late but I really don't feel it is my responsibility to pay for anything related to the Church Leaderships stupidity and individual criminal acts. Good luck with their new Capital Campaign. Wish we could unalign ourselves from Archdiocese. Not a dime from me. Shame, shame, shame is not even close to the outrage I feel. My sympathy for the victims is strong, and also for those of us who have to deal with this but had no control over what happened. Pray for me to find a way to get through this.
