Apparently the mayor and police chief in Sheboygan forgot about the oaths they took to support, protect and defend the state and federal constitutions.
Seems the city brass is trying to harass the lady who runs The Sheyboygan Spirit, an online discussion forum, because she had the audacity to post a link to the Sheboygan Police Department's publicly funded public web site on her forum. She even got a letter from the city attorney demanding -- with utterly no legal foundation -- that she remove the web link (which she did) and then she got a call from a police supervisor telling her that she's the subject of a police investigation.
These shenanigans are going on in a city with a rapidly rising crime rate, indifference toward violent crimes against children and an impotent police department incapable of adequately protecting the community. These things are discussed in great detail on The Sheboygan Spirit, much to the chagrin of the incompetent municipal government, particularly Mayor Juan Perez who The Sheboygan Spirit would like to recall.
Why stop at a recall? Morons like these city officials should be making license plates.
City employees and facilities should never be used to harrass the public, especially those who seek to exercise their First Amendment rights.
As for that link to the Sheboygan Police Department web site, here it is. Click on it and maybe even shoot an E-mail to the chief (who so far hasn't shown he's worthy to be a sore on the hiney of a good, honest cop) to remind him that before he can go out enforcing the law, he might start by obeying it.
