On vacation in Yellowstone

Time to kick back and relax a bit. This young elk cow took time away from the elk rut rituals for some personal business.

The weather is very wet and we could see some snow tonight but it's not expected to stick to the ground.

This morning a coyote darted out in front of me but unfortunately too quickly for me to stop and grab a shot.

The rut seems delayed a bit. The bulls are around but the bugling seems to be a bit less than in past years.

At the Madison River the bull above stood for a moment inspecting his herd but things were pretty laid back. Most ruts are more intense events.

Not much scenery to photograph due to the wet weather.
