"What kind of animal would do that?"

"What kind of animal would do that?"

That's a question we frequently ask in disbelief when we see someone do something particularly cruel or dangerous toward a child.

"What kind of animal would do that?"

It's difficult not to think something like that when you learn of the West Bend female -- I'm having trouble calling her a woman and even more so calling her a mother -- who came home with eight pieces of LSD-laced candy. She passed out in a stupor and woke up the next morning to find that her two-year-old daugher ate two pieces of the drugged candy.

"What kind of animal would do that?"

I spend a lot of time photographing wildlife. You get to learn a lot about animal behavior doing this. You don't want to cross a mama moose, an elk cow or a bear sow when any of their offspring is around. Mama moose, elk, bear and so on will kill (or at least go down fighting) to protect their young.

"What kind of animal would do that?"

No kind.
